Catherine Johnson, Interim Executive Director of Housing Choice Partners, has worked in affordable housing and mobility counseling programming for over 25 years. Catherine started her career as a Housing Counselor for the Leadership Council for Open Communities in 1991, where she had the opportunity to work with the Gautreaux Assisted Housing Program. The Gautreaux Program resulted from the nation’s first public housing desegregation lawsuit which later became an integral part of housing policy. Catherine also worked as a Housing Specialist at CHAC Inc./Quadel, when the organization administered the Chicago Housing Authority’s Housing Voucher Program. Since 2000, Catherine has been integral to Housing Choice Partners’ Chicago and suburban housing mobility programs. She is an expert in mobility program best practices and effective program design. Catherine is certified in HUD Housing Quality Standards, federal Housing Choice Voucher program policies, and homeowner and foreclosure counseling. She received her BA in Public Relations from Mississippi State University.
